Speakers and discussants provided insights into how the war has impacted the resilience of Ukrainian agriculture and what measures are needed for the sector to sustain its recovery capacity.
The key message conveyed was that Ukraine remains a reliable partner in the international agricultural market. Despite challenges, particularly in regions near the frontline, Ukrainian farmers have demonstrated remarkable adaptability and resilience. Thanks to international aid and ongoing digitalization, exports have been restored, and agricultural structures have been strengthened. International aid supports primarily farm resilience, while farms themselves are focused on restoring their pre-war efficiency and productivity levels. It is projected that small farms will grow larger and large farms will become smaller in Ukraine. A shift in production focus is also expected, moving towards high-value-added commodities like oilseeds. Mid-term recovery prospects look promising, driven by farm digitalization, international aid, and engagement with societal issues. Additionally, the digitalization of public services—particularly in land markets, procurement, and subsidies—further supports this recovery.
